Improvements Ideas and Methods- The term internationalization covers
different things and includes different
dimensions with various stresses at
different levels of higher education While there has been much talk about internationalization
in many aspects of modern society.
. Most people understand
internationalization in terms of categories or types of activities. These
include academic and extracurricular activities such as: curricular development
and innovation; scholar, student and faculty exchange; area studies;
technological assistance; intercultural training; education of international
students and joint research initiatives
An internationalize
university means an international mix of students, an
international mix of teaching and research stuff , Curricula that are
culturally independent, where relevant,domestic students that study abroad.So to make campus a internationally standard
university first of all we should concern about the following points.
It involves everyone ;all students,
all stuffs .On campus activities are important as well as international activity.
Its not a overnight issue ,it is a long term process and without planning it cannot be done properly.
Ideas-
1.
Front page of
the university website has an “International” portal with diverse information.
2.
Bilingual sign
boards should be put up on the campus entrance, main intersections around the
campus and the administration building.
3.
There should be an up-to-date strategic plan
for international programs.
4.
Arrange significant campus events and awards to
recognize international contributions of students, staffs and faculty.
5.
Invite foreign scholars to take up positions
on campus as visiting scholars, increase the number of international
collaborative research projects, and promote transnational educational
programs.
6.
Strengthen Research Capacity
7.
Promote Curriculum Innovation.
8. Exchange foreign students or local
students from different university.
9. Ensuring students graduate with
ability to live as global citizens.
10. Preparing
students for employment in a multi-cultural/international environment.
Methods-

English
is an international language but in our university English website is not well organized. A stranger cannot get much more information from current
website. We should keep in mind that all the people are not familiar with
Chinese language. So first task is to prepare a standard university website in
English so that anyone can know about university by seeing the website. Website
includes- a brief description of university, introduction of universities
President, all Departments chairman and
Dean and obviously prepare all the faculties profile with their research interest. Any Scholarship
news,Conferrence news should be highlighted. Main thing is that website is need
to be well organized..

The president or
chancellor and academic officers regularly promote internationalization and
the importance of international programs on campus through planning,
budget allocations,
program inputs, fund raising, speeches and international travel.

Name and location of the central university
office for international programs are indicative of the central role of
international programs on campus, AND there is a core budget associated with
this office that supports central staff, scholarships and a faculty grant
program to assist travel, program initiatives, etc—As a result international
programs are quite visible on campus through location and impacts on faculty
and students. Some institutions even link some faculty lines to the central
international office.

Faculty are
encouraged, supported and frequently involved in international projects through
research,
workshops, artistic shows or performances, and in teaching short-term study
abroad programs or courses for certificate or degree programs.

To organize
regularly The activities such as ‘International Day’ and ‘International hour’
to allow foreign scholars
and students to exchange their views with the local students about life in
Taiwan. It allows the foreign students to voice out their difficulties and
questions about staying in Taiwan.

Most
important problem in our university is lack of English practice.Most of the
students cannot speak in English so that they cannot communicate with foreign
students.I think this problem should be highly focused and arrange a compulsory
English training course for everyone .I think many student can speak in English
but they shy to speak. By arranging this type of course students are encouraged
to speak in English.

In
Undergraduate level there is no course
in English except foreign language course. I think its really a big obstacle in
the way of internationalization. All the teachers are encouraged students to speak
in English otherwise students cannot go to abroad for their higher study . Offer
dual-language counseling and English-taught courses, language training
in both English and Chinese.
Conclusion-There is no doubt that though the campus is one
of the prominent university in World . Now our duty is to make this university
campus as world class standard. Internationalization is one route to being
world class.We want more and more number
of international students in our campus. If you really want to internationalize
our campus then all the students ,faculty and staffs should come forward .Students
from abroad and local should make a good relation with each other. In order to attract
international students to study in , many scholarships or financial support programs could offer
to foreign students. The scholarship may be paid fully or partially, which
includes tuition fees, administration fees and living expenses. The university
could be created the “Policy of the Reward of
Recruiting International Student” to reward the department who recruits
international Undergraduate and Graduate students. The ultimate goal of is to develop an international study,
research, living and communication environment on the campus. Administration
could encourage colleges to offer more English (foreign) based lectures, to
provide an internationalized study environment
